Who Joe trains alongside, how he trains, and the verified physical numbers that come out of it. Nine years on a structured strength and conditioning programme with PROformance.
The clearest measure of any young player's standard is the company they hold. Over the past two summers, Joe has trained week-in, week-out alongside current professional footballers — same drills, same intensity, no concessions for age.
These aren't show sessions or media events. Proper closed work — technical drills, finishing patterns, possession games, conditioning blocks — set at the standard of EFL and National League first-team training. The pros set the pace; Joe matches it.
What scouts find difficult to assess from match footage alone is whether a young player can hold up at training intensity once the gap to senior football has to be bridged. The answer for Joe is that he's already been bridging it for two summers, in a group where falling off the pace doesn't go unnoticed. The names span Championship, League One, League Two and National League:

Joe continues to impress the team every testing block, his ability to produce power is shown in his improvement in his vertical jumps, hitting a huge 62.5cm on his Abalakov test. As well as improving his broadjump to 305cm, which is scary good!

Joe continues to impress us over and over again. Joe has finally reached the 60cm mark for his jumps, which was a target we set a while back. Joe continues to add mass and develop into his body, which will benefit him massively now he is playing regular mens football.

This block has been Joe's best one yet. We have seen huge upwards shift in power and speed even with his added mass of 3kg! Joe currently has the 5 & 10m speed records on the new speed gates.
